Music aficionados who chance to see guitarist Vick "Nash" Espinoza perform on stage with the Norma Zenteno Band will readily recognize his masterful skill, dexterity and impeccable finesse. A musician's musician, Vick's signature is sensual, lyrical eloquence with an energized sustained melodic flair. An adept jazz improviser and prolific composer of melodies, he delivers his leads with formality, at solid center, yet with drive and resonance that cuts the edge. Vick honed his agile musical style over the ten years he spent in Nashville working as a studio musician, while also touring with the Marty Martel Show Band as keyboardist and musical director and performing on the Nashville Network's Ralph Emery Show Nashville Now. On his return to Houston, the sound he brought earned him the name "Nash." But long before Nashville, Vick had already spent many years--since in his teens--composing songs, singing and playing accordion, guitar and keyboard with conjunto, Tejano, rock, R&B and country bands on the local music scene. Smooth Stroking marks the debut of Vick's own original brand of smooth jazz with Latin a spark, a collection which he self-produced out of his own JazTrax Studio, performing on all instruments. The CD was in the field considered for 2005 Grammy Nomination for Best Instrumental Jazz Album. Smooth Stroking has been well-received by numerous Internet radio entities, including Smooth Jazz & More, The Bay Smooth Jazz Radio, Guitars and All That Jazz, WCJZ Worlds Cool Jazz.
